Advice From the Class of 2022

As the school year draws to a close, its time for many of our students to say goodbye to their home for the past four years. This time of year can be very busy for our grads, but many of them have taken time out of their busy schedule to give incoming and remaining Leo Hayes students a bit of their sought after wisdom.

Academics takes up a large portion of our time, so the overwhelming advice from grads is to take the classes that interest you.

1. “Have fun with your courses and check out some of the awesome ones they have at the school.”

Leo Hayes offers a wide variety of class so finding something to fit your interests is easy. Another strong piece of advice our grads shared was to get involved, but as one student put it,

2. “You don’t have to do EVERYTHING, join clubs that interest you, not what other people think you should do.”

On top of keeping your options open, establishing good study habits is also important in high school,

3. “Even if you know the material, just go back over some of your notes before a test, write down information you tend to forget, and please ask for help when you don’t understand something”.

However, it is important to be aware as you move through Leo Hayes, that life exists outside of school.

4. “Your grades are not your personality. Don’t let them consume you, you have so much more value.”

Many Leo seniors had advice about keeping life inside and outside of school balanced,

5. “Don’t put grades above friendships, you won’t remember that 97% but you will remember your best friends.”

Its also important to note that friendships go through rough patches especially in high school.

6. “You will lose some people you thought were really close, but you are guaranteed to make new connections.”

The class of 2022 has had its share of ups and downs over the past few years, meaning they have seen everything high school can throw at you and lived to tell the tale. Now, as they move on from the school, we here at The Mane hope that their advice serves the students of Leo Hayes well in the future.

P.S. we feel it’s important to note the first piece of advice every single grad interviewed for this piece gave: learn how to walk in the halls!
